Systems we service

If your LSM is on this list, we can quote repair, PM or a contract. Running something else? Ask us.

  • LSM 310 and 410First-generation systems
  • LSM 5 series5 Pascal, 5 Live, 5 Exciter
  • LSM 510Including META and NLO
  • LSM 700
  • LSM 710
  • LSM 780
  • LSM 800Including Airyscan

What we do on an LSM

From a single repair visit to an annual contract.

  • Preventive maintenance and performance checks
  • Laser repair, replacement and realignment
  • Scan head, detector and pinhole alignment
  • Controller, PC and ZEN or AIM software support
  • Stand, stage and incubation repair
  • De-install, relocation and reinstall
  • User training
  • Annual service contracts

Zeiss LSM service contracts

One fixed annual price for the key components of your LSM, with terms of one to three years. No separate invoices for labor, travel or parts when something fails between visits.

Optional coverage: external lasers and laser power supplies, including UV and multiphoton sources, and controller PC and operating system upgrades for older systems.

How our contracts compare to PM-only and one-time repair

  • Annual preventive maintenance visit: cleaned, inspected, tested with service software and realigned to factory specification where needed
  • Laser alignment check and beam path optimization
  • Backup of critical system and configuration files at every visit
  • Priority emergency service between PM visits
  • Labor, travel and replacement parts included

Service notes by LSM generation

Each generation ages differently. This is where we usually start.

LSM 310 and 410

First-generation Zeiss confocals still running in teaching and materials labs. The control computer and the original lasers are usually the weak points, and parts are no longer made, so sourcing and refurbishing them is most of the job.

LSM 5 series

Pascal, Exciter and the fast line-scanning 5 Live. Compact systems that are cheap to keep running once the lasers, scanner and PC are healthy.

LSM 510, META and NLO

The workhorse of many core facilities, run on AIM software and legacy Windows PCs. We repair and realign the scan head and META spectral detector, support NLO multiphoton setups, and replace failing controller PCs.

LSM 700, 710 and 780

ZEN-based systems with solid-state lasers on the 700 and spectral detection on the 710 and 780. As factory support winds down, contracts keep detectors, lasers and the ZEN workstation covered.

LSM 800 and Airyscan

Still supported by Zeiss. Labs choose us as a lower-cost independent alternative for PM, repair and contracts, with Airyscan alignment and performance checks included in PM.

Not ready for a contract?

Every option starts with a free assessment and an estimate you approve before work begins.

  • Per-visit service: billed for engineer time, travel and parts. With your approval, we add a full PM during the visit.
  • Remote diagnostics: we log in, test the system and diagnose errors before anyone travels.
  • System moves: we de-install, pack, reinstall and realign your LSM at its new location, down the hall or across the country. Lab moves

What to send for a fast quote

Include what you can. Anything you don't know, we will find on the first call.

  • LSM model, and whether it is a META or NLO system
  • Microscope stand (for example Axiovert 200M, Axio Observer or AxioImager)
  • Laser lines, plus any UV or multiphoton laser
  • Software (ZEN or AIM) and the Windows version on the PC
  • When it was last serviced and whether it is under contract now
  • Any current errors or symptoms
  • Air table size, for moves and installs

How a service call runs

The same four steps whether it is a down laser or an annual PM.

  1. Tell us the symptom

An engineer, not a call center, reviews your request and asks the few questions that narrow it down.

  2. Get an estimate

You get an advance estimate, refined with scope, parts and lead time once the system is evaluated. You approve before work starts.

  3. We do the work

On site in your lab, or crated and repaired on our bench. Lasers measured, optics cleaned, scan path aligned.

  4. Report and warranty

A written service report with the measurements taken, plus 30 days of coverage on parts and labor.

Replacing it instead?

We buy and take trade-ins on Zeiss LSM systems. Put the credit toward a refurbished laser scanning confocal, a new CrestOptics spinning disk on your existing stand, or a service contract.

Questions labs ask us

Which Zeiss LSM models do you service?

LSM 310 and 410, LSM 5 series (5 Pascal, 5 Live, 5 Exciter), LSM 510 including META and NLO, LSM 700, LSM 710, LSM 780 and LSM 800 including Airyscan.

What does a Zeiss LSM service contract include?

An annual preventive maintenance visit with cleaning, inspection, service software testing and realignment to factory specification, a laser alignment check, backup of critical system files, priority emergency service, and labor, travel and replacement parts.

How long are contract terms?

One to three years. Contracts are quoted per system and configuration at a fixed annual price.

Are external lasers covered?

External lasers and laser power supplies, including UV and multiphoton sources, can be added as optional coverage.

Zeiss ended support for our LSM. Can you still keep it running?

Yes. We repair, align and maintain LSM systems after OEM support ends, we have access to Zeiss LSM spare parts and working reference systems, so repairs don't stall on discontinued parts.

Do you work on the ZEN and AIM software and the system PC?

Yes. We support the controller, PC and ZEN or AIM software, including replacing failing computers on older systems.

Request a free service assessment

Send the LSM model, the stand and what it is doing. An engineer reviews every request.

No obligation and no charge for the assessment.
